At the time Canada had not yet won a single medal, though we were a shade short of a couple bronzes (as of posting this Canada now has 2 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze). Knowing this made me really appreciate what was written in the concrete in Eau Claire Market for the 1988 Winter Olympics:

I had my camera placed on a tripod to both steady the camera and allow me to take the following photo. This angle presented, to me, the optimum way to capture the entire saying.

Using the self timer on my camera, placed on a tripod. This was a nekkid as I was going to get, as it was close to lunch hour in downtown Calgary (sorry for those wanting / expecting more nudity - I may take a few risks, like for last week's photos, but in a crowd of non-nude people, where it is illegal, I draw the line).
Go Canada Go!
After walking through Eau Claire, I went to Olympic Plaza, where part of Global Fest was going on. While there I finally saw the Olympic motto: Faster, Higher, Stronger

Hmmm, not much to say, other than I thought it was cool to have the Calgary tower in the center (over the Latin for higher... though the Calgary tower is NOT the tallest building in Calgary.... that title will go to the Bow Tower in a couple years. Currently the Petro-Canada Centre is the tallest, followed by Calgary's twin towers: Bankers Hall).
Well that's about it for this HNT, but I will leave you with one fully-nekkid photo, even with the Olympic rings as part of the foreground....

I just happened upon this nice combination of the statue with the Olympic rings and thought it was perfect for today's HNT theme.
Have a great Half-Nekkid Thursday, and enjoy the rest of the Olympics.

Nice shots. It's strange to see you with clothes on. :)
ReplyDeleteHAPPY HNT!
And if I'd been there to help you, you could have skipped the whole tripod deal, dropped your shorts real quickly, and I could have snapped the shot....pronto!
ReplyDeleteThose are great photos - and the big slab with the quote is amazing!
