HNT 28 - Good-Bye Calgary (for now)

Here it is, my last day in Calgary (for now). My last day at work, my last dinner with friends, and my last night. (Second last if you count me posting this before bed on Wednesday.)

On Friday 15 August, I pack up the last of my things, at my boss's place where I have been cat-sitting for the past two weeks while he's out at his mountain cabin. I have a hair cut and colour touch up at Deva Dave Salon, in preparation for a wedding I'm attending in just over a week. I plan to take a final stroll through downtown Calgary, on the look out for Olympic remnants from 1988 for next week's HNT theme (Osbasso, perfect timing for that theme :D ). Then I'll drive to Edmonton where the next phase of my life begins.

As tribute to me saying good-bye to Calgary I thought of some way of getting a photo that could represent that. This is the best I could do with the short time I had available... Me looking south to the Calgary downtown city skyline, from the top of Nose Hill Park (link 1) (link 2)

Monday 11 August was a cool day for summer, which was perhaps a good and bad thing. Good because that might have discouraged throngs of people to Nose Hill Park, thus allowing me to take the photo click through. I still encountered people on the paths, so I was quick with that photo - I was shirtless for a good while, and have some more photos of me as such. Bad, because being shirtless in the (obviously) overcast and slightly windy weather meant that I got a little too cold to wait it out for opportunities for photos with me wearing less.

{Photo temporarily removed for personal reasons}
About these photo: Taken Monday 11 August 2008, Nose Hill Park, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The photo was taken with my camera on a tripod using the 15 second delay self timer, as I was too far to use my remote. The camera was zoomed in to the max to get downtown Calgary somewhat identifiable (the Calgary tower is just to the right of the first tallest building on the left).
(Click through: Due to the public use of the paths around, and the noise from the traffic obscuring me hearing approaching people, I dropped my shorts to my ankles for this photo (yes that is walk to camera, drop shorts and pose all in 15 seconds!). That photo was my second attempt, and better looking as the sun is on me in this one, creating, in my opinion, a more artistic line of shadows between me and downtown Calgary.)

The '(for now)' refers to the high probability that I will be back in Calgary next summer, at the same job, for summer employment. I will also be back to Calgary to visit friends periodically.

Have a great Half-Nekkid Thursday.
